Community Urgent Eye Care Service

The Community Urgent Eyecare Service (CUES) is an NHS commissioned service available to patients of all ages registered with a GP in the Black Country
It is designed to manage acute and urgent eye problems safely within community optical practices, helping to reduce demand on GP surgeries, urgent treatment centres, and hospital eye departments.
CUES provides free and timely access to optometrists trained in urgent eyecare.

Common symptoms suitable for referral into the service include:

  • Red or painful eye
  • Sudden loss of vision
  • Flashes and/or floaters
  • Foreign body in the eye.
