Expansion of the NHS Pharmacy Emergency Contraception Service

Good news!

Access to contraception is getting even easier across the Black Country.

The Pharmacy Contraception Service (PCS) has now been rolled out to most community pharmacies in the area, meaning women can get the contraceptive pill directly from their local pharmacist — no GP appointment needed. Pharmacists will also be carrying out the usual yearly pill check-ups to make sure everything stays on track.

As part of this wider expansion, more pharmacies are now offering the morning after pill, giving women quicker and more convenient access to emergency contraception when they need it. This is all about making contraception more accessible and freeing up GP time for patients who need more complex care and support.
